Renishaw Diagnostics Ltd (RDL), formerly D3 Technologies Ltd, was a Strathclyde University spin-out before being acquired by the Renishaw Group, a leading global supplier of engineering technologies, medical devices and Raman spectroscopy systems. RDL is focused on developing and commercialising its first in vitro diagnostic (IVD) and clinical research products, with the goal of being the premium provider of automated, multiplex, high sensitivity molecular diagnostics products for the detection of human infectious diseases.

RDL uses novel patented technology based on surface enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) to develop molecular diagnostic tests for the infectious disease market and for life & analytical science research applications. The main advantages of this new technology are high sensitivity, multiplex detection (up to 10 targets per reaction) and rapid analysis. The company also sells a patented substrate, Klarite®, designed for chemistry-based detection methods using surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), for academic and industrial applications. To further exploit the benefits of this technology for trace level detection applications in biopharmaceuticals, biothreat, environmental, food & beverage and forensics, commercial partners are actively encouraged to contact us.

Mission

Renishaw Diagnostics will provide automated, multiplex, high sensitivity molecular diagnostic systems to facilitate fast, reliable and simplified disease detection and so enable clinicians to improve patient care.
